Ford is reportedly planning to introduce new entry-level trims at significantly lower prices than their current offerings.

The manufacturer has imposed a series of price rises over the last year that has seen the cost of models such as the Fiesta rise by more than £2,000. The average price rise for the manufacturer’s range has been 9 percent, with some models increasing by as much as 30 percent.

But rather than making price cuts, Ford will chose to follow Vauxhall and introduce a new low trim level to avoid devaluing its current range. Although there is no official line from the company at the moment, we expect to hear an official announcement before the end of the week.

Another week, another Ken Block rallying video. This time the Gymkhana stunt driver has been filmed doing a warm up run for the fantastically-named 100 Acre Wood Rally in Missouri.

Sadly this is not the wood lived in by Winnie the Pooh and his various animal friends, but one that plays host to a rally that Block has taken first place in for the last four years.

Apart from marvelling at the fantastic control Block has over his garishly decorated Ford Fiesta, we were struck by just how laid back he looks while flying around at ridiculous speeds.

Ken Block has been out in his new Ford Fiesta rally car for the first time, and has chosen a simple snow-covered course to get to grips with the car.

Ignoring the idea of not throwing himself in at the deep end, Block takes the Fiesta up to 110mph as he careers along the icy track in a forest in Michigan.

As well as showing more evidence of Block’s driving skills, the video also shows us the insanely restyled Monster Fiesta in action for the first time, and it sounds pretty good to us.

Ken Block’s arrival at Ford was always going to mean a lot of publicity for the blue oval’s new rally season, but the Fiesta they’ve given him to compete in the Rally America Championship is a handy reminder that the brand expects to sell a lot of cars off the back of their investment.

Until now Ford has been easing the idea of a desirable supermini onto the size-obsessed American market, but there’s nothing subtle about the Monster World Rally Team’s Fiesta.

The impressively butch hatchback is built by Olsbergs Motor Sport Evolution, the same Swedish outfit that prepares Ford’s Pikes Peak hillclimb cars. Inevitably, the Fiesta gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-pot and four-wheel drive. Block gets Italian co-driver Alex Gelsomino.

The team will debut at the first race of Rally America this weekend in Atlanta, Michigan. Once the six races of that Championship are completed Block will exchange his Fiesta for the new rally version of the Focus RS and swap continents to compete in the World Rally Championship.

Expect to see pictures of that car on Autoblog UK in the next few days, but for now check out the promo video to see why the US is about to go monster for the Fiesta.
